Emma’s Hearts
This is a pattern that I never intended to be a pattern! It was more of a happy yarn meandering that went in a positive direction. I had a vague idea for creating granny hearts “in the round”. After some frogging and intense ( for me😁 ) maths, here we have it. I realised that the colours of the hearts reminded me of Emma Bridgewater china, so that’s how she got her name.
It’s a lovely relaxing blanket to make. Lots of soothing Granny stitch, with enough colour changes to keep it interesting. I really enjoyed seeing the hearts appearing too.
The pattern is beginner friendly. If you can make a basic granny square, then you will be able to tackle this pattern with ease. It’s a 10 page pattern and I would recommend reading through the whole thing before you start. I have included detailed picture tutorials for colour changing. It’s easy one you get the hang of it and means very few ends to sew in. If you get stuck at any point, you can email me hello@madebyanita.co.uk and I will be happy to help in any way I can.

I enjoyed every moment of making this blanket. So much in fact that I am already planning another version. With Christmas just around the corner, I think the colour palette will be something festive.
