madebyanita Granny Stripe

I made my first version of this blanket in 2014. I was still quite new to crochet at the time and completely obsessed with Granny stripes. Not much has changed since then 😁. This blanket is still one of my favourite things I have ever made. It’s as much of a joy to make as it is to sit wrapped up in it. My original version is still going strong and is a much-loved member of the family.

My 2014 blanket is still going strong!

This updated version features a deep ribbed border. It reminds me of cosy knitwear, which is appropriate as the original inspiration for this blanket was a Cath Kidston Cardigan.

The pattern also includes a matching cushion cover. It’s made using yarn leftover from the blanket, so nothing gets wasted.

The original inspiration was this wonderful Cath Kidston cardigan.

I used Scheepjes Colour Crafter Dk this time. It’s wonderfully soft and the colours have a very retro feel to them. This design will blend itself into modern or traditional homes and is always ready for a picnic!

It’s a large blanket but Granny stripe works up quickly. The colour changes keep it interesting to the very last stitch.
