The Grace Blanket

I have a Ta daa for you today. A finished Grace blanket! It’s been a long time coming as I’ve been working on this particular version for over two years now. But first, let’s rewind a little to 2015.

Here is my original Grace ta daa picture, taken in June 2015. She was made for a charity raffle and I never intended to write a pattern (I didn’t even keep notes…), so was very surprised when I started receiving messages asking if it was available. I’d never written a pattern on that scale before so it was a huge learning curve! I completed it later that year and it was such a thrill to see versions in every colour of the rainbow popping up all over the internet.

Fast forward a few years and I felt like the pattern needed a refresh. I’ve learned a lot about pattern writing over the last few years and wanted the pattern to reflect that. After a few false starts with my choice of yarn, and an interim revised version that I was never truly happy with, I have finally finished both the blanket and the pattern update.

Now a 26 page printed booklet

I have given the pattern a complete overhaul and it has been thoroughly tech edited by Lynne Rowe (who is absolutely amazing and extremely experienced). It remains, as it always has been, a completely free download, but now there is also the option to buy it as a 26 page printed booklet! I suppose you could call that three ta daas!

Skill level required

The Grace blanket is a perfect way to improve your repertoire of crochet skills. I explain techniques such as starbursts, granny squares, join as you go and continuous join, all presented as picture tutorials to help you stitch by stitch. The pattern doesn’t assume any prior crochet experience so suitable even if you are very new to the craft. I’ve had some lovely messages from people who have told me that this pattern has taught them to crochet from scratch.

So there we have it, over ten years, thousands of stitches and countless hours on my laptop and I can finally say that my Grace blanket journey is complete. Hmm, maybe it’s time to get on with Grace II?
