The Modern Medallion Blanket - Craft your own heirloom
This blanket has been floating around in my head for a number of years. I think I first started swatching it in around 2020 and I have made countless samples and test pieces before arriving at the final design. It looks complex, but it’s all just the basic blocks made separately and then joined together. It’s a forgiving design, perfection not required. Just enjoy making your squares (summer is a great time for this, as they’re all small, portable pieces). Then pick your favourite joining method and whizz them all together!
It’s huge, and yes, there will be ends to sew in, but when you’ve finished, you will have your very own heirloom piece.
I thought the easiest way to share what you need would be with a snippet from the book. Here is the page with all of the yarn details so you can start planning. You don’t need to follow my choices though. Pick any brand of yarn and shades you like! I would recomment sticking to a DK or Light Worsted though as a thicker yarn would make a very large blanket!
You can find the full pattern in my book, Patchwork Granny Square Blankets, available now from all good booksellers.
