Quiet Sky
Quilting and crochet are two beautiful forms of textile art that have been enjoyed by crafters for centuries. Both involve creating intricate patterns and designs using various stitches and techniques. While each art form has its unique appeal, it's fascinating to explore the possibilities of combining them.
I’ve been tinkering with this design for a couple of years now, testing different layouts based on traditional quilt blocks. Quilt blocks translate well into crochet. The geometric shapes and clean lines mean they can be replicated in a variety of stitches. I, of course, chose granny squares!
Quiet Sky Crochet Blanket
The Quiet Sky blanket is a granny square crochet blanket inspired by traditional quilt blocks. The design is made from 25 identical crochet squares arranged in different colour combinations to create a patchwork effect. The finished blanket measures approximately 140 x 140 cm (55 x 55 inches) and is suitable for beginners.

FAQs
Can I make the blanket bigger or smaller?
Yes, absolutely! The Quiet Sky blanket can be made bigger or smaller by simply either reducing or adding the number of blocks you make until you reach your desired size. There is also a King Size layout included in the pattern (if you choose the king size option, bear in mind that it takes twice the amount of yarn).
Is the pattern in UK or US terms?
Both UK and US terms versions of the Quiet Sky pattern are available - you can find both via the links above, feel free to go with whichever one you are most comfortable with.
Where can I find more designs that combine the art of quilting with crochet?
If you like the idea of using granny squares to create other types of quilt blocks, you can find many more patterns in my book, Patchwork Granny Square Blankets. All these patterns are exclusive to the book and won’t be released separately.
